Encre, the French word for ink, was chosen as the title of this collection as a nod to the bride’s tattoo, featuring the inscription “Love all animals”. It is this innate sense of reverence for animals and nature, which the bride and groom passionately share, that orchestrated the inspiration and vision for this provocative event palette. The idyllic historical retreat selected for this exquisite celebration is the very place the bride was fortunate to call home, a private estate, nestled within the Ogunquit River, in the iconic town of Ogunquit, Maine.

Set in a secluded enclave of the estate, lush with luxurious gardens and artistic landscaping, overlooking the river, is the stunning site for the wedding ceremony. The emphasis is on the raw beauty of nature. Each meticulously chosen element of this artisanal wedding complements the ambiance of the venue and reveals a true tapestry of flora and fauna. The custom ceremony aisle was fashioned from reclaimed barnwood sourced from a nearby cherished farmstead. The spectacular floral ceremony wall and ceremony aisle chairs were adorned with an abundance of vibrant flowers grown on the acreage of the estate. Blooms such as oriental and pandora poppies, mountain and panicle hydrangeas, ranunculas, and rose varieties such as tea roses, fairy, dark night, and cherry parfait roses, were prominently featured in the design.
A seamless transition between nature’s landscape and the tablescapes echoes a sensitivity to the preservation of nature and natural artifacts. A vintage carriage house/barn serves as the dramatic reception site wherein a custom fabricated 24’ farm table sits beneath an elaborate collection of antique wood and brass frames, (family heirlooms curated from the bride’s grandmother’s attic), suspended from the beams overhead. Dark tones of burgundy, grey, and charcoal tableware, accompany a symphony of floral cascades presented on tiered tablescape displays showcasing predominant rich hues of fire-orange, magenta, ruby red, and burgundy. Interspersed with the floral design elements are clusters of organic grapes, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries, freshly picked on site or locally sourced from respected farms.
A complete antithesis of the norm, the statement wedding cake is artfully draped in dark chocolate complimented by delectable strawberry, blackberry, rosewater, and salted caramel French macarons. Poppy and eucalyptus stems complete the embellishment. A decadent dessert display showcases a monochromatic white palette infusing individual presentations of white chocolate mousse, homemade marshmallows with white chocolate garnish, baby white chocolate cheesecakes, custard-filled profiteroles, and hand-dipped white chocolate and raspberry truffles. The culmination of this glorious day was a scenic coastal walk on the 1 ¼ mile Marginal Way.
